It’s reasonable to assume that a Kung Fu Grandmaster would want a sturdy hip. Fifty-five-year-old Bill, who has studied martial arts for over 43 years, needed a hip that would help keep him kicking. Thanks to his Metasul hip implant, the Florida resident is regaining his old form, not to mention other activities such as body surfing, boating and swimming without hip pain. |

Bill has the distinction of being one of the first people in Florida to receive a Metasul hip. Metasul has been used in Europe for over 11 years, and after extensive clinical studies, was recently approved for use in the U.S. in August 1999. Bill joins the 100,000+ patients worldwide who have a Metasul hip.
Bill’s doctor, felt that Metasul was the best solution for a younger patient like Bill since Metasul has the potential to last longer than conventional hip implants.
Bill couldn’t be happier with his new hip. "I’m amazed," he said. "I forget I ever had hip problems, especially the pain."
Bill is referring to the hip pain that began with a slight fracture when he was 16 years old. The pain flared up again seven years ago, and continued to worsen until he was in almost constant pain. He had limited range of motion, making it difficult to climb stairs or get into and out of a car. It had gotten to the point where he needed two canes just to get around.
After getting his new Metasul hip, Bill was walking without any help within weeks. He said his mobility and range of motion have improved. The martial arts Grand Master continues to practice Kung Fu and T’ai Chi to strengthen his muscles.
"It’s a wonderful hip," said Bill.
